Home Depot Ceiling Fan Recall
A popular ceiling fan is being recalled due to blades that could detach while spinning, according to a report from 6ABC. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received 47 reports of blades coming loose from the Hampton Bay Mara ceiling fan, including two reports of blades striking and injuring people and four reports of property damage.
As a result, manufacturer King of Fans is recalling more than 190,000 of its 54-inch Hampton Bay Mara indoor/outdoor ceiling fans. The fans were sold at Home Depot between April and October in both the U.S. and Canada. Priced at about $150, they were available in a variety of finishes.
Consumers are asked to stop using the fans immediately and to inspect them for defects. The company will replace faulty fans for free. Contact King of Fans toll-free at 866-443-1291 during business hours, by e-mail at MaraRecall@kingoffans.com or online at www.kingoffans.com/MaraRecall.htm.
