Peloton Recall
In the past, Peloton has recalled bikes due to a pedal malfunction and treadmills due to a roller that entrapped or pinned small children or pets. In the latest consumer notice, Peloton has voluntarily recalled over two million exercise bikes due to instances of the bike’s seat post assembly breaking during use, posing fall and injury hazards to users.
The bikes, which retailed for about $1400 each, were sold at Peloton and Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide and online at Onepeloton.com, Amazon.com and Dicksportinggoods.com from January 2018 through May 2023. To date, there have been over three dozen reports of the seat post breaking and detaching from the bike during use, including 13 reports of injuries including a fractured wrist, lacerations and bruises due to falling from the bike.
Consumers may contact Peloton to obtain a replacement seat kit which owners are responsible to install at home on their own with the help of an online instructional video.
