Duffy + Partners was listed in in a recent issue of The Philadelphia Business Journal for having one of the Largest Legal Judgments of 2013.
The plaintiff in the case was Philadelphia doctor Noreen Lewis, who was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna rented from local car-sharing service PhillyCarShare when the minivan's ball joint mechanically failed and rolled over down a ravine, leaving Dr. Lewis with virtually no use of her left arm. After a five-week trial, a Philadelphia jury awarded $11.4 million Tuesday to Dr. Lewis and $4.3 million to five other plaintiffs in the case for a total finding of $15.7 million in liability against Central City Toyota, the dealership responsible for the minivan's maintenance.
The Philadelphia lawyers of the Duffy firm have achieved a number of seven figure verdicts and settlements for clients in auto and trucking accidents, as well as several other types of catastrophic personal injury.
